Finally I have a few minutes to write after diving diving diving for the past two weeks...The Eureka trip was the topper.  12 Atlantic divers included Joe Noll, Greg Modelle, Mark Clark, Bill Kaesar, Scott Nichols, Howard Rothweiler, John Copeland, Guy Harrington, Bill Teague, Steve LaGreca and I made the long haul via ferry and overland to Rudee Inlet, Virginia Beach home port of the mega dive boat Miss Lindsey.

After our traditional Ruddee's group dinner we loaded and departed for a night dive on the John Morgan.  40 foot visibility, dozens of lobsters crawling out of their holes and a full moon on flat water made for a great starter dive.  Captain Mark, Don and mate Tim then sped us to the Eureka sixty miles south, as we slept and dreamed the night away.

Splash, we returned to one of the most productive dives and marine festoon wrecks on the Atlantic coast.  Cobalt blue waters with visibility to the sand accented a moving stew of Amberjacks, Crevalle Jacks, False Albacore, Bluefish, Skip Jacks, Bonita, Barracuda, giant Sea bass, tautog, trigger fish mixed with loggerheads, dolphin, pilot whales and a close encounter with a grand Oceanic Sunfish.  What more could you ask for? But wait there is more...Our deco stops were equal in spectacle to our incredible bottom time wreck dives.  After our first few dives we honed in on a cargo hold and galley area loaded with assorted bottles and curious discoveries.  I dived every two hours with a longer afternoon power nap on Monday to regain my sea legs.

See other Eureka post for this ships history and the posted fish and artifact pictures following this discussion.  This was one of the most beautiful wreck dives I have experienced with a memorable amiable group sharing the fun.

Good Wreck Diving!

Check out these pics of the trip by Tim Sims, one of the Miss Lindsey's hosting crew members.
